Most people spend New Years Day morning either in their bed, someone else’s bed, a hospital bed, or a gutter somewhere. For me, the first thing I did New Years Day morning after I finished working my 19th consecutive New Years Eve was to go to Dunkin Donuts! Aside from my habitual ice coffee, that was where I found the newest member of the Croissant Donut family… FUDGE!
The wonderful crisp outside covering the flaky pastry inside that has now been wrapped around rich, creamy, smooth, chocolatey FUDGE!!! This is JUST the kind of thing I was talking about last year when the Croissant Donut disappeared. The possibilities for this are endless and I am glad to see that Dunkin Donuts realizes this (or at least, they read my blog and realized it) which will ensure the Croissant Donut will be around for quite a long time.
Now I know what you’re probably saying to yourself… 400 calories for a donut? Yes, it’s true, maybe New Years isn’t the best time for this to debut with everyone trying to keep their weight loss resolutions alive. I’ll admit that 400 calories is a BIT much… but honestly… it’s worth it for one. I may even be convinced to down two in a sitting if I’m skipping lunch (as I am prone to do). I do have to wonder how much of that is from the sugary glaze though. I hate the glaze… even on this absolutely delicious morsel. I would have been good with either just a frost on it or pipe the frosting (as they’re already doing) but without the glaze.
Nevertheless… I am glad to see that the Croissant Donut has brought in 2016 with a bang and a delectable filling of goodness!
