It is that time of year where I cringe… the self-anointed herald of fall being Pumpkin has already ridden on its orange horse of death through the vast majority of coffee shops and food stores. Thankfully we have one standout that may help us take fall back…
Apple Pie Oreos.
I can attest that they are REAL and they are GOOD.
First, the smell is just incredible. Unlike the Brownie Batter Oreos that smelled disgusting, the Apple Pie Oreos have a sweet scent that reminds you of grandmas kitchen while the pie is baking.
Just like a traditional apple pie, the Apple Pie Oreo cookie wafer is actually graham flavored. This is reminiscent of the S’Mores Oreos of two years ago.
We all know that the standout part of any Oreo is often the filling, and although the Apple Pie Oreo has filling colored nearly identical to the cookie the flavor profile is vastly different. The creme is a sweet blend of apple cinnamon bringing on a true apple pie flavor minus the gooey part. Admittedly, the gooey part is often the best part, but you can’t deny that getting that same flavor minus the potential mess especially while on-the-go is a good thing.
Overall, if you haven’t figured it out, I’m loving the Apple Pie Oreo. I’m very happy with this interpretation of that wholesome all American dessert… and only hope that soon Apple (the fruit/flavor) will displace Pumpkin as the official Herald of Fall.
