I recently found Dunkin Donut‘s new Croissant Donut they made available just in time for Mother’s Day.
Behold! It is the Blueberry Cobbler Croissant Donut…
… and it is gooooooooood.
This is just the type of variation to the Croissant Donut that I’ve been waiting for. While the exterior continues to have the mundane glaze with crumbs reminiscent of the Snickerdoodle Croissant Donut, the insides are filled with a blueberry jelly (hence the “Cobbler” aspect) that is absolutely divine. This is the exact type of filling I’ve been waiting for.
Now don’t get me wrong, the Fudge Croissant Donut was good too, but the filling more often than not was deflated and smeared against the inside walls as opposed to being a filling. The Strawberry Shortcake Croissant Donut definitely filled the void… but it was a creme which I’m not a huge fan of unless it’s Bavarian.
I am definitely down with jelly.
Another aspect that is important to note is the 380 calorie count that is thus far the lowest of the special flavored Croissant Donuts. Here’s the nutritional info:
Needless to say, this is a definite win for Dunkin Donuts in my book.
