… for Obama to actually do something about Net Neutrality. Here’s his statement on it in case you missed it:
This? LONG OVERDUE!
“To put these protections in place, I’m asking the FCC to reclassifying internet service under Title II of a law known as the Telecommunications Act. In plain English, I’m asking [the FCC] to recognize that for most Americans, the internet has become an essential part of everyday communication and everyday life.” – President Obama
I seriously think the Internet became essential back around 2008 when Obama was first elected. Why it took him 6 years to come out and finally say it is beyond me.
It should come as no surprise that as an independent content creator I fully support the idea of Net Neutrality. I don’t want to have to pay money to the different cable companies so my content can be accessed, because I already pay for that with my internet connection. It’s really charging twice for the same service… which they technically are already doing since the user is also paying.
The thing is, even though Barry finally decided to say something, there’s not much he can do as he himself points out in the video. It’s really an FCC issue and unfortunately their track record of acting in the best interest of the public isn’t stellar.
One thing I found REALLY interesting was this graphic they put at the beginning of the video…
Make no mistake about it, The White House put that there intentionally. Perhaps to illustrate what will happen if Net Neutrality isn’t preserved? Perhaps as a hot poker thrown at the cable companies? Or perhaps did someone in the editing bay decide to act out? Whatever the reason, I’m sure there will be more interpretations on the “Buffering Arrow” than there are to the end of Interstellar… which I haven’t seen yet so PLEASE STOP TALKING ABOUT IT ON THE INTERNET!!!
