The Okfuskee County District Attorney announced that he will not be filing charges against the Trooper caught on video choking a Paramedic while a patient was in the back of the ambulance on the side of a highway in Oklahoma.
According to KTLU, District Attorney Max Cook stated that, “After careful consideration off all fact and circumstance, it does not appear it would be appropriate to file charges against (Paramedic Maurice) White or any other person involved. Although, I do not condone their actions, I do not believe that filing charges at this time would serve the best interests of the public or interests of justice.”
This has been decided even though on May 22 an Oklahoma law was signed into legislation that makes it a felony to interfere with an EMT or Paramedic while performing medical care duties and the video, shot by family members of the patient, show the Trooper doing just that.
The dash cam footage from the Trooper’s vehicle has, not surprisingly, been withheld from the public.
